Italy: Luxurious boutique property The James Suite Resort Firenze 1564 has opened in Florence, designed by James Cavagnari.
Born in London in 1964 and raised in Florence, James Cavagnari is an architect and designer with a profession spanning luxurious retail and hospitality. He has designed greater than 200 boutiques for Salvatore Ferragamo and led the worldwide retail redesign for Bulgari.
The James Suite Resort Firenze 1564 has been reworked from Cavagnari’s childhood Renaissance palazzo. Initially a convent, it was inbuilt 1564 and retains many Renaissance options together with an off-centre doorway, vaulted ceilings, and an interior courtyard.
It now affords 14 suites, the 1564 Lounge Bar, and The James Restaurant. The resort’s F&B venues will serve conventional Italian dishes with a Mediterranean twist alongside cocktails that characteristic uncommon spirits and botanicals.
The late Queen Elizabeth II’s unique cell wardrobe can also be housed on the resort, crafted from mahogany wooden with compartments for clothes, scarves, and equipment. The wardrobe is on show alongside a portrait of a younger Queen Elizabeth.
